Where the safety of the child(ren) is a concern, or if concerns about a family’s ability to care for a child are raised, an investigation may be launched. A child protection worker will determine if and when the child(ren) requires protection. Should the children’s aid society find that the child(ren) need protection a court application may be commenced against the parent(s) or caregiver(s) to remove the child from their care.
